Since I am now looking at getting new armor at level 40 I began picking the brains of the more knowledgeable Chosen in our WAR community. Not all of us cruised right through to 40 and as we add new players I thought this information might be helpful.
Here is a basic armor progression I was given. This is not set in stone and you may be able to skip around depending on your PvE or RvR schedule. Thanks to Eol, Quorteth, and Abr4 for answering my many questions on the Warhammer Alliance Forums. These pieces can also be mixed and matched depending on your PvE or RvR needs (Greater Wards, Sword and Board build, Two Handed build, RvR only, etc)
Blood Lord (Bastion Stairs) or Annihilator (Keep gold bags) then;
Conqueror (Fortress gold bags) or Sentinel (Bloodwrought Enclave & Bilerot Burrow - IC Dungeons) then;
Dark Promise (Lost Vale) or Invader (Altdorf stage 1?) then;
Warlord or (new gear coming from the new dungeon coming soon) then;
Sovereign
For weapons and shields, there are a few good stepping stones for level 40 weapons. These all have hidden procs and are relatively quick to run. I soloed through all of them at 39 without breaking a sweat. They can be obtained through three different quests. One for each race: Greenskins, Dark Elves or Chaos. You can run each quest line and get three rewards. Just make sure which you want, because once you select you are stuck with your choice. After these, many of the T4 RvR influence rewards will be your next logical step.

Well your right to a point, but it also depends on what you want to do as a Chosen. If you want to tank PVE your gonna need the wards. If your point is to PvP, are you going 2 hander, or sword, and board.
For instance the shield which is basic level of T4 influence is way better then any quest shield.
And if you go PvP you might want to mix in like 2 annihilator, and 3 bloodward for bonuses, or some other mixture of armor. Sometimes you gotta think outside the box.
Very true, though don't know if Mythic really wants two handed Chosen. Especially the way this next patch is looking.
Did you really find the CH 22 PQ Shields to be better than the quest ones? I really didn't like the PQ ones any more, especially with the procs. I guess I am also baseing it on the fact that I AoE'd my way from 39-40 at the Dark Elf 22 PQ. The 800 armor buff proc from my shield was up every fight. This would not be true I guess in RvR (or PvE Boss fights) where I am not as experienced.
I did make a small edit to reflect what you said.
I mean this shield you get from T4 influence in Open RvR.

You may lose 100 on the proc, but man that wounds, toughness, and extra flat out armor is sooo worth it, plug in a +19 perma wounds gem, and you'll be rolling big pimpin style.
Actually (despite Zizlaks wierdness) I don't think too many people stack spirit resists, and thats the damage we do now. Plus with Blastwave affecting Wounds now, thats huge.
My fault. I was mixing up what you were saying about RvR Influence reward with the T4 PQ rewards. Yes the RvR influence shield you linked is definately batter than the quest reward one. Though the quest reward one took me an hour and a half to get, where my T4 influence is still barely creeping along.
So my quest shield will have to do until I get my Influence up.
